book这个单词一开始意思很简单，我们在小学的时候学的的含义就是书，书籍，作名词。结果在中学的时候，才知道这个词语还有另外一个意思，预订、预定，作动词。这时候老师告诉我们，这是一词多义，要注意记忆，但是老师们并没有去解释这两个含义之间的联系。但学习了更多的单词之后，我逐渐注意到一词多义的每个含义是存在着一定的联系的，而这种联系在还在读中学的时候已经见过了，就是在学文言文里面讲使动用法，但是并没有去仔细思考过。

我们首先要知道英语book它的本义是什么？所以我找到腾讯翻译君里面的百科对book的解释如下：A book is a set of sheets of paper, parchment, or similar materials that are fastened together to hinge at one side. 大意是一本书是经过装订的一叠纸。英语的book本义是经过装订的一叠纸，是名词。在知道book本义之后，我们就可以根据不同的场合引申出大量的含义，比如什么，书籍、文学作品、功课、唱词、脚本、电话簿、杂志、本子、簿册、账目等等，这些在英语里面都可以表示为book，而这些含义所指的事物都有个共同特点，它们都是经过装订的一叠纸。

然后，我们开始代入具体的情景，将书籍和预订这两个含义联系起来。我们知道，酒店和宾馆的前台，放着一本登记表，用来登记这个顾客入住信息。所以我们要去预订房间的话，那个前台工作人员就要把我们的入住信息写上去，而这本地登记表就叫做book。我们要预订一间房间，而工作人员要写上我们的信息到这本book中，这样子才能订得了房。在订房这个情景下，这时候预订和登记这两个词语就是同一个意思。所以我们可以对工作人员说，我们要预订一间房间，说的是我们要订房，而换个说法，我们也可以这么说，请工作人员帮我们登记一下入住的信息，也说的是我们要订房。两者说法都是指的是同一件事情，同一个行为，只是角度不同。

因此，在这里的book原本是指的是登记表，是名词。然后在这里就变为了动词，也就有了登记或者预订的含义。
