其实最早的英语世界大家是不在乎单词的拼写的，能读对说好即可。
后来美国有个哥们儿叫Noah Webster,
对，就是你们看过的英文字典Merriam-Webster的创始人，
他跑出来说：我们美国除了要有自己的独特发音，也要有自己的独特语言。
他希望美国人拼写单词应该跟美国人读单词无限接近。
这也是为什么美国人的拼写与英国人也很多不同的地方，例如：
1.er结尾的单词，英国人为re.
英国是centre,美国为center; 英国是sabre,美国为saber.
原因是：绝大部分美国人er要卷舌的，re就卷不了舌了.
2.ue结尾的单词如果不发音，美国人就不要了.
英国是catalogue,美国为catalog;英国是analogue,美国为analog.
原因是：-ue既然不发音，那干脆就扔掉，免得麻烦.
3.大部分our结尾单词，美国人都是or.
英国是armour,美国为armor;英国是humour,美国为humor.
原因是：没有U的情况下也能发出那个音，那干脆不要了。
*但是像our flour tour这种就不能扔掉U,因为扔掉后发音规则变了。
4.-se结尾的动词，美国是-ze.
英国是authorise,美国为authorize;英国是symbolise;美国是symbolize.
这个的变化其实并不大。
本来美国人还想把舌头tongue的拼写变成tung.
因为-ung的字母组合发音规则发出来的音与tongue一样。
但这个后来没坚持多久就算了，还是保留了tongue.
但也有一些单词拼写不一样，不符合任何规律。
比如‘铝’在英国是aluminium,在美国为aluminum.
‘程序’在英国是programme,在美国为program;
'限制'在英国是kerb,在美国为'curb'
除了这些还有其他拼写不一样的，但你会发现：
美国人的拼写基本上是建立在符合发音规律的基础上，越简洁越好。
